Community
The greatest privilege in sports is the opportunity to positively impact your community.”
Samantha Holloway, Kraken owner
One Roof Foundation
One Roof Foundation is the joint philanthropic arm of the Seattle Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena. The foundation works to ensure that every young person in our region has a roof over their head, access to play, and clean air to breathe.
Access To Play
In King County, access to play depends on household income, primary language spoken at home, and ZIP code. One Roof Foundation works to break down barriers to all forms of play by funding sport courts, providing ball hockey equipment to Title-1 schools, and implementing financial assistance programs to youth.
Youth Homelessness
1800 young people are homeless every night in King County. One Roof Foundation aims to end youth homelessness by partnering with YouthCare to provide opportunities and visibility of the work that is being done. To date, we have raised over $4 million for YouthCare and other nonprofits fighting to end youth homelessness.
Environmental Justice
Low-income and predominantly BIPOC neighborhoods in our region face a higher degree of environmental risk factors including proximity to polluted waterways, busy streets and highways, and poor infrastructure. One Roof Foundation believes all children should have access to clean air to breathe and clean water to drink.
The New Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center
In partnership with Seattle Public Schools and the City of Seattle, the organization has undertaken its most ambitious community project, the redevelopment of Memorial Stadium at Seattle Center. The new stadium will be a state-of-the-art multi-purpose venue for student athletics, education, arts, culture, entertainment, and community events. It will be seamlessly integrated with the Seattle Center campus, and will inspire students, the community, and the region for generations to come. Opening in 2027, the project will revive a community asset built in 1947 to honor Seattle students who lost their lives in World War II.
Heroes of the Deep
Every Kraken home game, Samantha Holloway and members of the Kraken ownership group donate $32,000 to a local non-profit by honoring someone in the community who works to make us better. Over the last four seasons, the Kraken Unity Fund has celebrated more than 150 Heroes of the Deep and donated more than $5million to non-profit organizations of the honorees’ choice.
